Charissa Brock is creating some of the most original bamboo artwork in the world. Her inventive, explorative nature, coupled with her aesthetics, makes her the ideal recipient of this ABS Award for 2002. She has just begun — we'll be seeing much more of her work in the future.

Jasmine Winkler Stobbe
For Jasmine "bamboo has always been my favorite wood because of its strength, its fast growth and its beauty in Asian art and painting.... I cut thin pieces of bamboo and place them in crystal-clear resin. After the resin dried, I sanded the piece down and polished it. The final outcome of these pieces os always a mystery."
